county district attorney’s office spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said Jones was charged for failing to update his sex offender status several months after his birthday in September last year. Jones was arrested on June 23 but was released on a $20,000 bail. He was also arrested in 2004 for the same felonyoffense. Jones’ arraignment for the new offense has been set on July 14.

Jones pleaded guilty in 2003 to charges of exploiting a 14-year-old boy, whom the actor instructed to pose for pornographic photos. He was also charged with possession of child pornography, but it was dropped as part of a plea bargain agreement.

Jones, 63, has starred in numerous films, including in “Bettlejuice,” “Sleepy Hollow,” and “Stuart Little,” but is more famous for playing principal Edward R. Rooney in 1986′s “Ferris Bueller.”
