Viveka Babajee’s suicide note mentions stock analyst Gautam Vora. Sources say Babajee took the drastic step because Vora allegedly refused to make their relationship public
Police officialsormer model Viveka Babajee’s suicide on Friday night, revealed that her rented apartment in Bandra’s Continental Towers was a mess and that they found her hanging from the ceiling fan in the hall. They found a note believed to be Babajee’s suicide note. The words ‘Gautam you killed me’ were written on it.
Sources inform that Babajee wanted her 32-year-old stock analyst boyfriend Gautam Vora to publicly acknowledge their relationship on his birthday on June 26. Babajee was also keen to organise his birthday bash.
But when Vora allegedly refused, she decided to end her life. Sources revealed that Vora was known to Babajee for only six months and Babajee was eager to tie the knot. In fact, she had even had a recent argument about marriage.
When Sunday MiD DAY contacted Vora’s Nepeansea Road residence, his household help Chintu revealed that Vora had not returned home since Friday morning. Vora’s mother Madhavi refused to speak to the paper, and an unidentified male voice informed the reporter, before disconnecting the call, that nobody would comment since were investigating the matter.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 9) K M Prasanna confirmed the words written in the suicide note, and added that police were probing all angles. When asked if the police had questioned Vora, Prasanna replied in the negative stating that Vora was yet to be traced and that they would record his statement soon.
However, Prasanna clarified that the police had not registered any case against any individual and that they were probing the matter as accidental death. A case accordingly has been registered under section 174 of Criminal Procedure Code with Khar police.
The Khar police sent Babajee’s mortal remains to Cooper Post Mortem Centre at 1.30 am on Saturday. A panel of two forensic doctors Dr V V Chevele and Dr S P Ade conducted the autopsy, which lasted for over an hour. The police had even requested for video shooting the entire process, to rule out future discrepancies.
