Joseph Rais, Football Coach Injured in Accident Dies

Joseph Rais, 51, who was under treatment after an accident, died on Monday. He was admitted in a serious condition to the Aswini Hospital, Thrissur, after a bike accident. Joseph, who is working as a coach in the Thiruvanathapuram Sports council, was on his way to Cheroor when he hit a pedestrian and fell from his bike.

Joseph, who took a diploma from the National Institute of Sports in Kolkata in 1988, was a trainer at the Kerala Varma, St Thomas, St Aloysius, Vyasa and Irinjalakuda Christ colleges. He was the main force behind bringing Joe Paul Ancheri to the football arena and he also trained I M Vijayan. From 1994 onwards he was working as a trainer in the Kerala Sports Council. Leela is his wife and Jenvin and Jerin are his sons.
